Around 20 representatives from 12 SMILE CITY partners met in Valencia, Spain on 5-6 June, 2025, hosted by AIMPLAS. The partners, representing different project sectors such as polymers, concrete, asphalt, batteries, PV panels and end of life tyres aimed at creating synergies for the common goal of recycling materials and re-using them in new, performing products.
During the two-day workshop, partners had the opportunity to present and show tangible samples of their products, identify the various components they are made of, and discuss the actual possibilities of reusing some of them to obtain new materials. The second day of the meeting focused on eco-design criteria for products made from recycled materials to enhance sustainability and establish environmental footprint methodologies. The discussions on materials and eco-design criteria were followed by group sessions in which partners investigated the potential applications of the various materials and looked for concrete directions for the project.
